Of the 24 communities in Connecticut with a population of 25,000 - 50,000 Connecticut Magazine rates Branford #6.  This is the first time in 3 years that Conneticut Magazine has updated its ratings of towns in Connecticut.

Rounding out the top ten were Westport, Glastonbury, Newtown, Cheshire, New Milford, Groton, Wallingford, Trumbull and Wethersfield.,  Ratings in each category with the best being 1 and the worst being 24 Branford was rated: Education (10), Crime (10) Economy (5), Cost (18) and Leisure (10).

Along it's 20 mile coastline on Long Island Sound, Branford provides easy access to 1-95 and is home to the Shoreline East Branford Train Station.  

The Branford Town Center full of New Engand charm is nestled in the heart of Branford surrounded by six historic districts that are listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and more than 20 historic homes.

The Town of Branford includes the Branford River, Queach Brook and the Branford Supply Pond, Branford Harbor, Stony Creek Harbor and Lake Saltonstall.

The principal communities of Branford are Branford Hils, Branford Center, Hotchkiss Grove, Indian Neck, Pine Orchard, Short Beach and Stony Creek.  Other communities and geographic areas of note are Branford Point, Brocketts Point, Brushy Plain, Cherry Hill,  Double Beach, Goodsell Point, Granite Bay, Haycock Point,, Johnson's Point, Killam's Point, Lamphier's Cove, Pawson Park, Rockland Park, Sagamore Cove, Summer Island, Sunset Beach, Thimble Islands and Todd's Hill.

Recreational facilities in Branford include a variety of town parks and beaches, more than 12 marinas and hiking trails along Lake Saltonstall.
