The Branford CT
waterfront community of Short Beach is roughly one mile long and is
located in the western end of town and is bordered by the town of East
Haven.

This cozy beach community is home to many small islands, the
largest being Kelsey's Island which has a few small cabins used as
summer homes.
Short Beach has three parks, the largest being Pardee Park and
one of the town's most beautiful open space area at the Short Beach
Preserve and is home to half of the famous ShorelineTrolley Museum.

Founded in 1644 with Branford, this beach neighborhood also
includes the Short Beach Union Church and the Yale Corinthian Yacht
Club.
The residents take great pride in this community especially
over the Labor Day Weekend as the neighborhood features a three-day
festival at the end of the summer called Short Beach Days with a
parade, costume contest, food, races, sand castle building and
competitive games.

Most
notably, Short Beach is known for the population of the Monk Parakeets
that live there. It has been said that the parakeets escaped from a
zoo, took up residence in the neighborhood trees and can be seen and
heard all year long.
